YOUTH EMPLOYMENT
PROGRAM
SAYM’s Youth Employment Program is a six month, classroom and field, work readiness program. YEP provides initial work experiences for SAYM mentees who are 15-18 years of age.
OUR GOALS
teach our mentees to develop strong work ethic
understand the value of money
apply that knowledge to make wise decisions with hard earned income
establish the beginning of a good resume
learn how to navigate the ups and downs of work relationships in the real world
HOW IT
WORKS
Upon acceptance into the program, our mentees become official SAYM employees. We pay the wages of our mentees and provide our YEP Partners with a hard working mentee “free of charge”, in exchange for a gracious learning opportunity that gets our mentees foot in the door, a challenge that can prove difficult without the support of programs like ours being a bridge.
The SAYM work program prepares the YEP trainees to secure part-time work in the private sector during their high school years; simultaneously, it provides in-depth training and homework, in order to develop our mentees into the best employees and they can be.
